Tips on Page Titles
* Google shows the first 60 to 70 characters in the search results. Make sure your important keywords occur early in the page title for scan-ability. If your title goes beyond 70 characters Google may cut off the title before 69 characters and display ... at the end of your page title.
* Rather than making your page title just the keyword and/or starting your page title with the keyword, sometimes it helps to add in a descriptive modifier before your core keyword. This helps ensure your page is less likely to get filtered out of the search results (and thus makes your rankings more stable) while helping you rank for additional terms.
* Page titles are used to draw in clicks from search results amongst many anonymous competing offers, thus they present an opportunity to differentiate yourself from the competition and qualify prospects to your offer.
* Good titles evoke an emotional response, ask a question, or promise something (that the landing page fulfills).
* Since the page title is one of the few elements search engines can show searchers before sending them to your site, they place significant weight on the words in the page title. In addition, some people link to pages using their official page title as the link anchor text.
* Overlapping modifiers in a reasonable and readable way allows you improve your relevancy scores for an array of keywords, but they still need to read well. Rather than loading up page titles with a keyword list it is better to write a clear compelling offer that contains your keywords and describes your services.
* Qualifying the wrong prospective clients with a bad offer will lead to a low conversion rate, or wasting time servicing non-clients. For example, if you sell something that is high end you wouldn't necessarily want to rank for your keyword with modifiers like cheap and discount, as servicing those people will waste your time.
* Page titles should be differentiated from page to page on your site. Unless limited by the size and scope of your site, it is best not to have all your page titles follow the exact same formula across your site. You also should not use the same keyword at or near the start of every page title.
* The format, order, and word selection of the words in your page title should be (at least slightly) different than the words in your meta description and on page headers.
* If you have a strong brand you may want to place it at the end of your page title. If you have one of the leading trusted Internet brands (Amazon, eBay, etc.) then it might make sense to place your brand at the start of the page title. In most cases the page title should still be more focused on the page copy and searcher's intent than on your brand.
* If you blog or are creating linkbait make sure you try to create headlines that draw clicks by using magnetic headline principals.

Google Trends For Websites Introduced
People working at traffic measurement companies are probably less than happy right now. With the introduction of Google Trends for Websites, a certain search giant is invading their niche.
Like most of Google's tools, Google Trends for Websites is free. Like some of them, it's interesting. Sign in, type a site's address (or more than one address, if you want), and you'll get to see a graph representing its daily unique visitor count over a period of time. Sites those people "also visited" and "also searched for" are listed, along with proportional traffic bars, as well.
This appears to present all sorts of opportunities for competitor research, ally-making, and general site-to-site comparisons. What keeps the tool from being "interesting" as opposed to "remarkable," then (and keeps us from thinking about bankruptcy in connection with Alexa, Compete, and the like) is that it remains to be seen how accurate Google's data is.
On the Webmaster Central Blog, R.J. Pittman writes, "Keep in mind that Trends for Websites is a Google Labs product and that we are experimenting with ways to improve the quality of the data. Because data is estimated and aggregated over a variety of sources, it may not match the other data sources you rely on for web traffic information."
Still, we feel fairly sure that a lot of people have just found a new way to spend the impending weekend.

Wouldn't you want to generate traffic to your site without spending a single cent? Bet it would seem like mission impossible but wait, I will share with you some methods. To be frank, paying for advertisements is the easiest and fastest way. But surely there is no harm trying out some free methods. The only concern to be honest is that it may take a bit of time to judge the effectiveness. But it is still worth trying.
1. One good idea which I can think of is to trade links with other similar niche websites. This is a win-win situation. Both link-exchanged sites stand to gain when visitors to either site may have the tendency to click on each other links (vice versa). But, make sure you get a confirmation agreement with other webmaster before you do this.
2. Another great way is to write articles. Try to write articles that provide useful information such as tips or guides related to your niche business. Most importantly, do include your web link so that visitors reading your articles know where to go should they want to visit your site for more information. It is highly recommended that you SEO your blog content. It is not recommended however that you make your blog sound stiff and technical for the sake of attracting search engines. When it comes to actually incorporating your keywords into your blog copy keep in mind that the best blogs are the ones that sound casual. Nobody wants to read a robotic repetitive piece of copy.
One key to keeping your blog looking neat and readable is to keep the content less than 300 words. 250 words per blog is idea. Keeping them looking reasonably uniform and the same length is also more visually eye catching and more likely to keep curious eyeballs on your page and not someone else’s.
Another thing you need to note is the way the headline of your blog article looks. Shorter is almost always better. Long search engine optimized blog titles don’t work if they are cut off at the end. Make sure that any blog headlines that you have are.
You should also make sure that your blog headlines are not too commercial or corny sounding. For instance a blog title such as “Make thousands a day using SEO!” is not going to work as well as a subtler phrase such as “How SEO Let Me Quit My Day Job.” Corny headlines look like spam to a lot of people when they get them on their RSS feeds so their eyes simply glaze over when they see something like “Hoodia Miracle Weight Loss Drug!” or “Grow Bigger Breasts in Three Days.”

I’ve sure you’ve heard before that it’s a possibility to make money with your blog and you may be wondering how this is possible. And were they really meant for making money or just for journaling your personal thoughts? I’m not sure what they were intended for but they are great ways to make money.
I have a personal blog which is just my own private little place to go online and jot down my thoughts, but I also have my business blogs.
Back In The Beginning
Now to be honest with you in the beginning of my blogging experience I really wasn't sure what I should do with my blog. I knew I wanted to make money with it, but I didn’t know how. I didn’t know what I could do to not only be a value to others so they would come back to my blog, but that I would still enjoy writing it.
So it was really important to me that I find a topic in which I would be excited about, and have enough to offer so that I could blog every week or so. After starting a blog that was meant to just be an add on to my business at MommysPlace.net and struggling with the direction of that blog, I came across one of Alice Seba’s blogs. Which she used to write about her experience through a traffic product.
Every couple of weeks or so she would update her progress through this course. She would tell us all about her successes with this product and how great it was for her business. And it made me think of how I could do something similar.
Product/Service Focused Blog
This is when the light bulb moment went off in my head. This is when I realized what I should have been doing all along. I have been a member of a exclusive coaching program for mothers in business.
Since joining this program my business has seen great success. My income has increased more than five times what it was before I joined and my traffic has increased even more than that.
I enjoy and believe in this coaching program and it happens to have an affiliate program. I often got email from other work at home mothers who wanted to know my thoughts on this program.
Taking a cue from Alice’s blog I decided to start my own such blog. And named it http://MomMastermindsJourney.blogspot.com - okay, not a catchy title, but I'm no good with picking names
I used this blog for the purpose of documenting my successes with my business. My projects, new content added to my website, keyword phrases I was ranking for…etc. Basically anything that had to do with my business that was directly or indirectly because of my joining Mom Masterminds I jotted down.
Not only was this the best move I could have made for my promoting this affiliate link it also served as a great way to really see for myself the successes my business was achieving and also to keep me on track.
This is one way you could make money with a blog. There are other ways you could make money with a blog if you don’t want to devote a blog to one service or product you’re promoting.
Side Kick Blog
For instance, my blog at http://www.mommyworkingvirtually.com is a side kick to MommysPlace.net and my forums. This is a blog in which I update my members on additions to the website, newsletter and forums. Updating any important telecommuting or business news and can promote my adsense and any other affiliate programs.
So this blog serves more than one purpose. My main goal with this blog is to get traffic to certain sections of my website. I have a large website and it’s not always easy for people to find my information. So this is a great way for me to keep certain new pages or sections of my website in the public eye and get traffic to those pages. It also serves as a way to make money with adsense and affiliate programs. And lastly it gives exposure to my forum and my newsletter.
There can be many ways and many topics in which you can make money and gain exposure to other businesses you may have or can help in creating you as an expert in a certain field.
Just take the time to really think about what you could be writing about and then how you can make money with that as well. You can take a look at others blogs to get an idea and see what other people are looking for.

I have used the general template for my mom masterminds blog and I have customized my http://www.mommysworkingvirtually.com blog with different colors and fonts then what it came with. I also have that hosted on my own domain, but you certainly don’t have to do that.
Submit Your Blog
After you create your blog you will want to submit it to blog directories to help get your blog out in front of the public. Some of the directories you can try are:
Feeds
Next, you need to add feeds to your blog. What is a feed? Good question. I don’t know the exact way to describe a feed nor do I have a lot of valuable information on this subject.
This is still very new to me, but I can tell you briefly what a feed does. You add a little graphic to your blog. It can be for someone's yahoo page, msn page and other ways.
When they click on that they can add your blog to their personal yahoo page. Then every time you add a new post they are alerted on their yahoo page that you have posted AND it even shows the topic of the post and how long ago it was posted.
This is one of the best resources I’ve found in keeping people coming back to your blog. They can subscribe to it so easily and they will be automatically updated whenever you have posted. It’s pretty easy to add an RSS feed to your blog. The resource I personally use is at www.feedburner.com

So this blog serves more than one purpose. My main goal with this blog is to get traffic to certain sections of my website. I have a large website and it’s not always easy for people to find my information. So this is a great way for me to keep certain new pages or sections of my website in the public eye and get traffic to those pages. It also serves as a way to make money with adsense and affiliate programs. And lastly it gives exposure to my forum and my newsletter.

Are you ready to take the leap into a blog? If so, it’s really very easy to set up a blog. The one resource I have used for all my blogs has been blogger.com. This is free, easy, and fun. There are many templates to chose from and you can customize yours if you would like.
I have used the general template for my mom masterminds blog and I have customized my http://www.mommysworkingvirtually.com blog with different colors and fonts then what it came with. I also have that hosted on my own domain, but you certainly don’t have to do that.
Submit Your Blog
After you create your blog you will want to submit it to blog directories to help get your blog out in front of the public. Some of the directories you can try are:
Feeds
Next, you need to add feeds to your blog. What is a feed? Good question. I don’t know the exact way to describe a feed nor do I have a lot of valuable information on this subject.
This is still very new to me, but I can tell you briefly what a feed does. You add a little graphic to your blog. It can be for someone's yahoo page, msn page and other ways.
When they click on that they can add your blog to their personal yahoo page. Then every time you add a new post they are alerted on their yahoo page that you have posted AND it even shows the topic of the post and how long ago it was posted.
This is one of the best resources I’ve found in keeping people coming back to your blog. They can subscribe to it so easily and they will be automatically updated whenever you have posted. It’s pretty easy to add an RSS feed to your blog. The resource I personally use is at www.feedburner.com

However so many marketing experts say that you need to make an emotional connection with your reader in order to make sales. This means that you need to find the fine balance between making your copy sound personal and pleasing the search engine spiders and robots.
First of all never pose yourself an expert or a guru if you are not one. People can usually tell that you aren’t within the first paragraph or so of an article, especially if it is peppered with keywords and not much quality content. This type of content is easily identifiable as it is based on old-fashioned direct sales marketing techniques. Once people see those long sales letters on sites, they know it’s snake oil salesman time. It is better to connect with them on a one to one basis rather than in an imitation of some hotshot copywriter from the 1970s.
Never use the royal "we". Stay away from phrases like "We here at Search Engine City promises to deliver you the best copy” instead make it more personal by using the "you or your" form as in: "You are certain to find a keyword analyzer that is perfect for that special someone at here at Search Engine City.”
Another tip is to try and identify with your audience in some way. For instance if your audience is a bunch of affiliate marketers, refer to the practice of creating blogs with affiliate links as bum marketing which is the nickname for it. Try to write in the niche language that they are used to. Of course if you truly are an expert in your niche then writing this type of SEO enriched, yet user-friendly copy will not be difficult for you at all!
